Since its launch on 11 July 2019, the IEEE Learning Network (ILN) has been instrumental in advancing professional development through its diverse array of courses and programs. One of the key goals in developing the IEEE Learning Network was to allow members and technical professionals to find continuing education materials from across IEEE in one place. Today, ILN offers continuing education content from 44 IEEE partners.
From specialized technical training on topics such as artificial intelligence, cyber security, and renewable energy to professional development and career growth topics, ILN online courses and webinars cater to professionals at every stage of their careers and equip them with the skills and tools they need to succeed in today’s rapidly evolving landscape.
Many courses hosted on ILN allow users to receive digital certificates bearing Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and Professional Development Hours (PDHs), providing professionals with valuable credit for their ongoing learning and career advancement. Additionally, several course programs offer digital badges upon successful completion. You can display IEEE digital badges on your LinkedIn profile in order to let potential future employers know that you’re committed to improving your skills!
Impressive Growth and Reach
Since its inception, ILN has seen tremendous growth and impact:
- Over 321,800 learners from 190 countries have completed ILN courses.
- A diverse catalog of more than 1,470 courses.
- 65K+ digital certificates issued.
- 88K+ minutes of learning available.
- 83% of ILN learners would recommend ILN courses to their peers.

Testimonials from the Community
“[Because the ILN] was a new prospect for IEEE, novel ways to make it work [were needed. The team] had to develop a software platform that integrated the multiple software platforms used by IEEE Societies and Councils when they created discoverable content. The ILN platform was a joint success story that involved many diverse areas of the IEEE. Five years later, ILN is a fantastic resource that provides access to educational material, covering all IEEE technology fields, from 44 IEEE organizational units and growing.”
Ed Rezek,
Senior Vice President, IEEE Smart Village
Past President, IEEE-HKN
Past President, IEEE MTT Society
“I chose ILN to elevate my knowledge in crucial topics that are required of engineers such as Engineering Ethics, which highlights industry standards and leadership for technology teams. Such topics are so scarce to find, and IEEE as a global education organization provides such knowledge and skills. Not only that, but the content on ILN is globally recognised and credentialed, which makes it positively impactful to my career and my professional knowledge. The IEEE Learning Network is my professional companion for my career development, and I am so glad I can always find relevant and industry-curated topics that impact my knowledge and engineering skills.”
Khaled Mokhtar
Board Member, IEEE Educational Activities
Chair, EAB Continuing Education Committee
Member, IEEE Strategy & Alignment Committee
“The introduction of ILN as the single platform of educational products from across IEEE was a hugely welcomed initiative for many in the industry and academia. ILN provides a ‘one-stop shop’ for the technical educational product search. My university engaged in a pilot to use a selection of eLearning modules available on the ILN in several undergraduate and graduate engineering courses. The outcome was so positive that we purchased the eLearning Library!”
