IEEE is here for you as you transition to learning and working remotely through our collection of eLearning courses that help you keep up with the latest skills that engineers and technologists need. IEEE Educational Activities is excited to announce the IEEE Learn Together Photo Contest.
To be eligible, you must complete at least one (1) eLearning course by 11:59PM on 30 June 2020 and receive an official IEEE certificate of completion prior to submitting an entry.
To enter, you must complete the form below and submit a photo of yourself, according to the following criteria.
*A geographic area is defined by where you reside. You may select from one of the geographic areas on the form.
All submissions must be received by 11:59PM ET of 15 July 2020. The Photo Contest is open to all individuals who have completed an eLearning course. Read the official rules.
You can submit as many photos as you like. Winners will be judged based on creativity and will be notified by 3 August 2020.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS.
NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A PURCHASE WILL NOT IMPROVE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING.
Contest: “IEEE Learn Together” Photo Contest (the “Contest”)
Sponsor: The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Incorporated, 445 Hoes Lane, Piscataway, New Jersey, USA, 08854 (“Sponsor”)
Eligibility: Contest is open to residents of (“Entrants”) the United States of America and other countries, where permitted by local law, who are the age of eighteen (18) and older. Employees of Sponsor, its agents, affiliates and their immediate families are not eligible to enter the Contest. The Contest is subject to all applicable state, local, federal and national laws and regulations. Entrants are subject to rules imposed by their institution or employer relative to their participation in contests and should check with their institution or employer for any relevant policies. Void in locations and countries where prohibited by law.
In the event Sponsor concludes that a potential winner is or should be ineligible, the potential winner will be disqualified and will not receive a prize.
Agreement to Official Rules: By participating in this contest, Entrants agree to abide by these Official Rules as established by Sponsor and/or as may be amended or changed by Sponsor subsequent to the commencement of the Contest, in Sponsor’s sole discretion and without notice. Sponsor reserves the right to review and qualify all Submissions and to reject any Submissions that do not meet the requirements for participation as established by Sponsor or to cancel the Contest in its entirety at the sole discretion of the Sponsor. Decisions of Sponsor are final and binding in all respects.
Entry Period: This content commences on 4 May 2020 12:00 AM ET and closes on 15 July 2020 11:59 PM ET (“Promotional Period”). Sponsor's server is the official clock for the Contest. Entries received before or after the entry period are void.
THERE IS NO LIMIT ON THE NUMBER OF ENTRIES PER PERSON
How to Enter: In order to be deemed eligible for the contest, the entrant must meet the following criteria (“Contest Criteria”):
- IEEE eLearning Course Completion: Complete at least one (1) IEEE eLearning course by 11:59 PM on 30 June 2020 and receive an official IEEE certificate of completion prior to submitting an entry. The entrant's name and contact information must match the certificate of completion. Note that a certificate of completion may take up to ten (10) business days to receive.
- Submit Photo on IEEE Learning Microsite: To enter the Contest, Entrants must submit photos and agree to all terms on the “IEEE Learn Together” microsite [https://innovationatwork.ieee.org/ieeelearntogether]. In order to be counted as a valid entry, an Entrant must provide their name, contact information, along with a release form and submit a photo consistent with the contest criteria through the IEEE Learn Together microsite. Photos must be submitted by 11:59PM on 15 July 2020.
- Meet Photo Submission Criteria: Entries should relate to the theme “IEEE Learn Together” in one of the following categories:
- “Learn It” – Capture an image of you with your earned eLearning course certificate.
- “Create It” – Creatively incorporate the technology you learned about in the course into your image. (For example, if you completed a robotics eLearning course, snap a picture of you with your certificate and a robot in the picture.)
- “Frame It” - Inscribe #IEEELearnTogether on your image OR use one of the frames provided here.
- Photographs only include the entrants and not other individuals.
- Original photographs only (no edits, no photo shopped entries, no logo added, etc.)
- Entrants ensure that submissions are in compliance with all the legal and copyright. requirements, including, but not limited to, the IEEE media release permission of those in the photograph.
- Files should not exceed the max file size 11MB and be submitted in .gif, .jpg, or .jpeg format.
- Files should be submitted using a supported browser (Firefox: FF 24 and above, Internet Explorer: IE 10 and above, Chrome: C 31 and above, or Safari: S 6 and above) or operating system (Windows: Win7, Win8, Win, MAC: OS, Mobile: IOS 6 and above, Android 2.3.3 and above)
Entrants may submit as many photos as they like. Only entries submitted in accordance with these Official Rules will be eligible for consideration. No alternate means of entry permitted. All entries become the exclusive property of Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned.
Entrant’s Warranty and Authorization to Sponsor: Entrant represents and warrants that they have obtained all necessary rights and permissions from all individuals appearing in any photograph they submit to the Contest. For the avoidance of doubt, this includes parental or guardian approval if the photograph includes a minor. Entrant shall be solely responsible for all claims related to the rights of privacy and publicity from anyone included in their Contest entry
Entrant understands and agrees that IEEE may process their data as necessary to provide this Contest.
Selection of Winners: A total of 8 (eight) eligible submissions entered through the IEEE Learn Together microsite will be selected based on creativity and originality.
Prizes are comprised of the following:
- One (1) eligible submission from each of the seven (7) Geographic Categories
- One (1) grand prize winner
A geographic area is defined by where the entrant resides. Entrants may select from one of the following geographic areas: Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, Middle East, North America, South America.
Prizes will be distributed to the winners after the conclusion of the Promotional Period. Chances of winning a prize depend on the number of eligible photos submitted. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a different prize of approximately equivalent value in its sole discretion.
Selection and Notification of Potential Prize Winners: The chances of winning depend on the number of entries received. No purchase is necessary to enter or win. A purchase will not improve your chances of winning. Sponsor will choose prize winners at the conclusion of the Promotional Period and will notify them via email no later than 3 August 2020. All potential winners will be notified via the contact information provided by the Entrant. Potential winners will have five (5) business days to respond after receiving initial prize notification or the prize may be forfeited and awarded to an alternate winner. Potential winners may be required to sign an affidavit of eligibility (which affirms that they have complied with these rules) as well as liability release, and a publicity release (where permitted by law), which if issued, must be completed, signed and returned within ten (10) business days from the date of issuance or the prize will be forfeited and may be awarded to an alternate winner. If prize or prize notification is returned as undeliverable or in the event of noncompliance with these Official Rules, prize will be forfeited.
Prize: The prize(s) for the Contest are sponsored by IEEE Educational Activities. The winner(s) (the “Prize Winner(s)”) from each of the seven (7) geographic areas will be awarded one (1) $50 USD Amazon Gift Card (the “Prize”). One (1) grand prize of a $100 USD Amazon Gift Card (or equivalent in local currency) will also be awarded. The grand prize winner will be separate from the geographic area winners. No cash in lieu of prize or substitution of prize permitted, except that Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize or prize component of equal or greater value in its sole discretion for any reason at time of award. Sponsor shall not be responsible for service obligations or warranty (if any) in relation to the prize(s). Prize may not be transferred prior to award. All other expenses associated with use of the prize, including, but not limited to local, state, or federal taxes on the Prize, are the sole responsibility of the winner. Winner(s) understand that delivery of a prize may be void where prohibited by law and agrees that Sponsor shall have no obligation to substitute an alternate prize when so prohibited. Amazon is not a sponsor or affiliated with this contest.
General Prize Restrictions: No prize substitutions or transfer of prize permitted, except by the Sponsor due to prize unavailability. Import/Export taxes, VAT and country taxes on prizes are the sole responsibility of winners. Acceptance of a prize constitutes permission for the Sponsor and its designees to use winner’s name and likeness for advertising, promotional and other purposes in any and all media now and hereafter known without additional compensation unless prohibited by law. Winner acknowledges that neither Sponsor, Contest Entities nor their directors, employees, or agents, have made nor are in any manner responsible or liable for any warranty, representation, or guarantee, express or implied, in fact or in law, relative to any prize, including but not limited to its quality, mechanical condition or fitness for a particular purpose. Any and all warranties and/or guarantees on a prize (if any) are subject to the respective manufacturers’ terms therefore, and winners agree to look solely to such manufacturers for any such warranty and/or guarantee.
Release, Publicity, and Privacy: By receipt of the Prize and/or, if requested, by signing an affidavit of eligibility and liability/publicity release, the Prize Winner consents to the use of his or her name, likeness, business name and address by Sponsor for advertising and promotional purposes, including but not limited to on Sponsor’s social media pages, without any additional compensation, except where prohibited. No entries will be returned. All entries become the property of Sponsor. The Prize Winner agrees to release and hold harmless Sponsor and its officers, directors, employees, affiliated companies, agents, successors and assigns from and against any claim or cause of action arising out of participation in the Contest.
Technical or Human Error: Sponsor assumes no responsibility for computer system, hardware, software or program malfunctions or other errors, failures, delayed computer transactions or network connections that are human or technical in nature, or for damaged, lost, late, illegible or misdirected entries; technical, hardware, software, electronic or telephone failures of any kind; lost or unavailable network connections; fraudulent, incomplete, garbled or delayed computer transmissions whether caused by Sponsor, the users, or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in this Contest; or by any technical or human error that may occur in the processing of submissions or downloading, that may limit, delay or prevent an entrant’s ability to participate in the Contest.
Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel or suspend this contest and award a prize from entries received up to the time of termination or suspension should virus, bugs or other causes beyond Sponsor’s control, unauthorized human intervention, malfunction, computer problems, phone line or network hardware or software malfunction, which, in the sole opinion of Sponsor, corrupt, compromise or materially affect the administration, fairness, security or proper play of the contest or proper submission of entries. Sponsor is not liable for any loss, injury or damage caused, whether directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from downloading data or otherwise participating in this Contest.
Right to Use Entries: By entering the Contest, entrants grant Sponsor a non-exclusive, irrevocable, royalty-free, perpetual, worldwide right and license to reproduce, publish, display, edit and otherwise use the submitted Entries, and entrant’s full name and city and state/province/country of residence, photograph, likeness, voice and institutional affiliation, in print or any offline or online and other media for purposes of editorials, exhibition, advertising, publicity and promotion without additional compensation or permission, unless prohibited by law.
Representations and Warranties Regarding Entries: By submitting an Entry, you represent and warrant that your Entry does not and shall not comprise, contain, or describe, as determined in Sponsor’s sole discretion:
a. false statements or any misrepresentations of your affiliation with a person or entity;
b. personally identifying information about you or any other person;
c. statements or other content that is false, deceptive, misleading, scandalous, indecent, obscene, unlawful, defamatory, libelous, fraudulent, tortious, threatening, harassing, hateful, degrading, intimidating, or racially or ethnically offensive;
d. conduct that could be considered a criminal offense, could give rise to criminal or civil liability, or could violate any law;
e. any advertising, promotion or other solicitation, or any third party brand name or trademark; or
f. any virus, worm, Trojan horse, or other harmful code or component.
By submitting an Entry, you represent and warrant that you own the full rights to the Entry and have obtained any and all necessary consents, permissions, approvals and licenses to submit the Entry and comply with all of these Official Rules, and that the submitted Entry is your sole original work, has not been previously published, released or distributed, and does not infringe any third-party rights or violate any laws or regulations.
Limitations of Liability/Reserved Rights: Neither Sponsor, its parent, subsidiary or affiliated companies, nor its advertising or promotional agencies shall have any obligation, liability or responsibility with regard to:
a. entries that contain incorrect or inaccurate information or do not comply with these Official Rules;
b. entries, prize claims or notifications that are lost, late, incomplete, illegible, unintelligible, damaged or otherwise not received by the intended recipient, in whole or in part, due to computer, technical or other error of any kind;
c. telephone, electronic, hardware, software, network, Internet or computer malfunctions, failures or difficulties of any kind;
d. any condition caused by events beyond the control of Sponsor that may cause the Contest to be disrupted or delayed;
e. any printing or typographical errors in these Official Rules or any other materials associated with the Contest; or
f. any damages or losses of any kind caused by any prize or resulting from participation in the Contest, accessing, uploading or downloading data in connection with the Contest, or acceptance, possession or use of any prize.
Sponsor, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to disqualify any entrant tampering with or abusing the entry process or the operation of the Contest or otherwise violating these Official Rules. Sponsor, in its sole discretion, further reserves the right to cancel, terminate, suspend or modify the Contest if the Contest cannot be completed as planned because of infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention or technical failures of any sort and to select a winner from among eligible entries unaffected by such event, if any.
Disputes: EACH ENTRANT AGREES THAT:
a. ANY AND ALL DISPUTES, CLAIMS, AND CAUSES OF ACTION ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THIS CONTEST, OR ANY PRIZES AWARDED, SHALL BE RESOLVED INDIVIDUALLY, WITHOUT RESORTING TO ANY FORM OF CLASS ACTION, PURSUANT TO ARBITRATION CONDUCTED UNDER THE COMMERCIAL ARBITRATION RULES OF THE AMERICAN ARBITRATION ASSOCIATION THEN IN EFFECT,
b. ANY AND ALL CLAIMS, JUDGMENTS AND AWARDS SHALL BE LIMITED TO ACTUAL OUT-OF-POCKET COSTS INCURRED, INCLUDING COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH ENTERING THIS CONTEST, BUT IN NO EVENT ATTORNEYS' FEES; AND
c. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL ANY ENTRANT BE PERMITTED TO OBTAIN AWARDS FOR, AND ENTRANT HEREBY WAIVES ALL RIGHTS TO CLAIM, PUNITIVE, INCIDENTAL, AND CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, AND ANY OTHER DAMAGES, OTHER THAN FOR ACTUAL OUT-OF-POCKET EXPENSES, AND ANY AND ALL RIGHTS TO HAVE DAMAGES MULTIPLIED OR OTHERWISE INCREASED. ALL ISSUES AND QUESTIONS CONCERNING THE CONSTRUCTION, VALIDITY, INTERPRETATION AND ENFORCEABILITY OF THESE OFFICIAL RULES, OR THE RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS OF ENTRANT AND SPONSOR IN CONNECTION WITH THE CONTEST, SHALL BE GOVERNED BY, AND CONSTRUED IN ACCORDANCE WITH, THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF NEW JERSEY, WITHOUT GIVING EFFECT TO ANY CHOICE OF LAW OR CONFLICT OF LAW, RULES OR PROVISIONS (WHETHER OF THE STATE OF NEW JERSEY OR ANY OTHER JURISDICTION) THAT WOULD CAUSE THE APPLICATION OF THE LAWS OF ANY JURISDICTION OTHER THAN THE STATE OF NEW JERSEY. SPONSOR IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY TYPOGRAPHICAL OR OTHER ERROR IN THE PRINTING OF THE OFFER OR ADMINISTRATION OF THE CONTEST OR IN THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE PRIZES.
